Our Story

Living Love Ministries is a Christ-centered family home established to address the multi-faceted needs of orphaned children in Kenya.

The Living Love Ministry vision was conceived back in 1996 shortly after Solomon Mwangi, a graduate of the University in Nairobi, Kenya, felt the Lord leading him to start a small children’s home to care for the many homeless street children he saw every day. He began making friends with some street children and felt an unusual desire to talk to them and help them. “Somehow I knew the Lord was placing it in my heart to do something for them someday,” says Solomon.

In 1998, the Lord opened a door for Solomon to participate in the “YES” program and he was curiously sent to Stansberry children’s home in Santa Cruz Bolivia. While at the Stansbury home Solomon had learned skills needed for running a children’s home and a daycare in the areas of management and administration.

In 2010 we celebrated the official opening of the Living Love Children’s Home in Ol Kalou, Kenya. We celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony in August with a Mission Team of 25 Adult and Youth from Southeastern Pennsylvania.

We have a US Board of Directors headed by Rick Taylor, and include Mel Nissley, Ron Miller, Kristel Engle, and Eric Cressman. The Kenyan Board consists of Solomon Mwangi, Hesbone Odindo, Amos Otieno, George Kimani, Harrison Aluda, Mary Wanjala and Anne Mirara.
