Day of Prayer and Fasting

We have set aside tomorrow, January 31st as a day for Prayer and Fasting for Living Love Ministries.  Remember that when we work, we work and when we pray, God works…
Join in praying this prayer:
Lord we pray that You will pour out your favor on Living Love Ministries and the home in Ol Kalau.  We pray that this year there will be breakthroughs, new direction and new insight.  Give Solomon and the Kenyan Board wisdom as they make decisions.  Lord, we want to move forward with Your vision, with excellence and with Your direction.  We pray that You will direct us to the right Farm Manager, the right accountant, the right Social Worker and the right help for William. We pray that You will direct Solomon in using his time wisely and direct him to delegate the right things to the right people…
Thank-you for Your faithfulness in establishing this home for the vulnerable children of Kenya.
Amen
If you missed January 31st, no worries… Please set aside time during your devotions to remember the Children in Kenya, and to pray for the Leadership who provides the Love and care for the Children.

Giving Tuesday – Saving for a new washing machine

WashingMachine Clothing_2 Clothing_1

In honor of Giving Tuesday, we would like to raise awareness of the need for a washing machine at the Living Love home in Ol Kalou, Kenya. Rahab and Jane, the House Mothers, are currently doing all of the laundry by hand each and every week. As you can imagine this is a strenuous and time consuming task, and with the upcoming expansion allowing us to welcome more children, the need for an improved system of handling the ever increasing amount of laundry is at hand. We have a very special donor who has agreed to donate one dollar for every dollar raised to purchase a new washing machine, that’s right for every dollar you donate towards a new washing machine, two dollars will be earmarked especially for the purchase of a washing machine  to help ease the burden on the staff of LLM. All you have to do is put a note on your check, or in the online form that the donation is to be used toward the purchase of the new washer. And don’t forget all your donations are tax deductible! Thank you in advance for all your prayers and support of the Children and Staff of Living Love Ministries, may God bless you now and in the coming years! Stay tuned to our Facebook page and blog for updates in the coming weeks…

Fall/Winter 2013-2014 Newsletter

The staff and children of Living Love Ministries celebrated the third anniversary of the childrens home during a ceremony on Saturday, August 10th 2013. The extended families of the children residing at the home were present, as well as many neighbors and friends.

The second 2013 work team, including U.S. Board members Mel Nissley and Eric Cressman, joined in the celebration as the children sang traditional Kenyan songs, and we recognized the hard work and loving guidance of Rahab and Jane, our House Mothers. The Director, Solomon Mwangi and many of the Kenyan Board members also joined in the festivities.

Mission Update

The second team for 2013 spent the first two weeks of August with the children and staff of Living Love. The team brought gifts for all the children from the US sponsors, including much needed art supplies and biblical activity books, which the children eagerly dove into.

All the children seemed happy, well nourished and well cared for. They had such a wonderful time interacting with the members of the team.

The work team also put the wooden tops on the benches and tables that were welded together by the first team in spring and early summer, that we highlighted in our Spring-Summer Newsletter. Some of the tables and benches were immediately put to use, and the rest will be used in the new cottage when it is complete.

Due to the heavy rains the construction was delayed, so the team was disappointed that they weren’t able to help with the actual building of the cottage. Be assured that construction will begin as soon as possible, please pray for the safety of the workers, for wisdom and guidance during the construction process so that ultimately, we will be able to expand our capacity and help more needy children.

Solar Water Heater

One of our new additions is a solar hot water heater. The staff and children are enjoying the benefits of warm water for bathing, as well as for use while doing the many loads of laundry each week.

Staff Search

The Kenyan Board of Directors, along with Solomon, are currently interviewing potential staff members including an on-site farm manager. The crops have been very abundant this year, as they have received plenty of rain. This is a critical position to be filled, as we strive to become more self reliant on our farm land to feed the children and staff.

Cottage Construction

Speaking of rain, the rainy season has extended beyond the typical August time frame. The rains are still pounding most parts of Kenya including Ol Kalau. We have our construction on hold, as the needed building materials cannot be delivered. The roads leading back to the home have become impassable, due to the heavy rains. As soon

as the roads dry out, we will move forward with our plans to build

Upendo Cottage.

Gifts

Many have asked about giving a special gift to one of the children. The LLM board has already sent extra funds for a special Christmas gift for each child and each staff member.

Your year-end donation will help with the ongoing expenses at the LLM Children’s Home in Ol Kalau. You can donate by sending your check to Living Love Ministries at 12002 Arnold Rd., Orrville, OH 44667 or by going to our website www.livingloveministries.org.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions at info@livingloveministries.com.

We pray that the Lord will bless you with a wonderful Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

Farming Update

Sheep-Chickens

Our sheep and chickens

have produced well, we now

have a regular supply of meat

and eggs for the children.

We would like to expand

this operation to better fulfill

the needs of our expansion.

We’ve had several harvests

of Irish potatoes this year, as

well as plenty of vegetables

and fruits thanks to the

abundant rains. We are still enjoying the

abundant corn harvest from last year which has saved us lots on food expenses.

Prayers for healing…

Please join us in praying for Solomon, the director of Living Love Ministries. He had a bad fall and tore a tendon in his right knee.

He will need surgery and have to wear a cast for six weeks and won’t be able to drive.

We would like to thank George Kimani from the Kenyan board for volunteering to help in Solomon’s absence with transporting necessary supplies and filling in while Solomon is unable to get around.

First photo of Baby Angel

Our kids at LLM home and our staff are doing great. They are also waiting anxiously to meet baby Angel. We take this time to thank you again for your prayers for all of us over the past weeks and months. God bless and have a great week. Solomon for the family.

Living Love Potluck Meal and Update

Please plan on attending our Potluck Meal and Update on October 13th at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Road, Landisville, PA.

RSVP to info@livingloveministries.com

Baby Angel has arrived!

Update from Solomon and Eunice as they welcome the new member of the family, baby Angel Primavera Bonita on Monday, September 9th at 9:35AM and she weighed 2.8 kilos (6.2pounds).

Abigail is quite exited about her new baby sister and can’t wait till she gets home. Timothy on the other hand is understandably not quite sure how to welcome the new baby who appears to have “displaced” him as mommy’s”baby”. He is even convinced the new baby cot is his and we hope he will adjust to his new big brother role quickly.

We Praise the Lord for the gift of a new life in our family. We take this time to thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and words of encouragement. We will be sending the photos of our little Angel soon.

God bless and have a great weekend.

The work team arrived home safely…

Thank you to everyone who was praying for our work team! We safely touched down at Harrisburg Airport this evening, after much delay and re-routing due to the devastating fire at Nairobi’s JKI Airport.
