Please help us welcome Ruth and Samuel to the LLM family

RUTH AND SAM

On July 1st, we welcomed the latest members to our LLM family. Samuel aged 13 yrs and his sister Ruth 10 yrs were brought to the home by the children officer after being rescued from a sad situation.

These children were found living in horrendous living conditions in a tiny room together with their ailing father and two year old sister. Apparently, their mother had abandoned the family. Their neighbors reported the matter to the local authorities who came to their rescue. Their father who was suffering from severe meningitis was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately died a few days later.

Their mother was later arrested and charged with child neglect. She was sent to jail for a couple of years and their baby sister put under care of a close relative by the judge.

The children were emotionally affected by the sequence of these tragic events and are undergoing counseling to help them cope with the situation.

Please pray for Samuel and Ruth to quickly adjust to their new home and for their baby sister Susan who might join them soon.

We also need prayers for wisdom for all of those working with these broken children, to have the love and patience they need as they begin the long painful journey of emotional and spiritual healing.

Please help us spread the word about all of the good things happening at Living Love Ministries by sharing this post with your friends and family.

God Bless!

Bricks used to build Upendo Cottage were all made on site

Now that Upendo Cottage if finally complete, I wanted to explain why it has taken so long to complete this project. Every brick used to build the cottage was made from scratch from clay on our property in Ol Kalou. It was a two year endeavor making the bricks one by one, dried in the sun, stacked and then fired in our own kilns built on our site. Take a minute to watch a video of the men forming the bricks during our mission trip in 2013.

Please join us in the spirit of “Ubuntu” as we prepare to expand Living Love Ministries

Living Love Ministries

Ubuntu is an African philosophy and is often encapsulated in the phrase “I am, because of who we all are”, meaning I am a collection of the influence of the humans I’ve experienced throughout life.

Ubuntu means that we are all interconnected, created to function as one unit. We are made for interdependence. When we act selfishly, we are operating outside of our natural creation.

Ubuntu values relationships over all else in the world. Our connection and interaction with other humans is the center of every thought, belief, action or inaction.

Ubuntu also states that we must learn to understand and care for the Earth. We must be mindful of the life she gives us. We must value and protect her as we would our own children. She is, after all, where humanity resides.

The ubuntu philosophy transcends beyond any selfish belief or act. Our confidence is developed, not through ego, but through a deep belief that we were created with the purpose and ability to contribute to a purpose far greater than ourselves.

Ubuntu encapsulates love, peace and unity. It is the root of compassion and empathy. It is the fundamental belief that we are not individuals, but rather integral contributors to a universal consciousness.

Everything is connected.

This is ubuntu…

Please join Living Love Ministries mission to “Pour out God’s love on the vulnerable children” as we prepare to welcome more needy children into our family in the near future…

Mary and Jane are our newest girls at LLM

We received two new girls Mary and Jane who are sisters in January.

The two had been in the hospital for several months after they were rescued

by concerned neighbors. Apparently, their step father had been sexually

abusing them repeatedly. They are recovering well but cannot go back to

their Mom because their step father is still at large. These sisters shared a

horrifying story of their experience. Unfortunately many of the girls we

receive in our home have gone through similar situations. We are planning

to take the girls for a couple months of therapy to help them cope

with the trauma of the sexual and emotional abuse.

Jane and Mary

Jane and Mary

Please help us welcome Mary and Jane into the LLM family and prayerfully

consider helping us find sponsors as we welcome more children,

as the girls prepare to move into our newly completed Upendo cottage.

Jane and Rahab continue to do a great job caring for the LLM children.

We also have several new staff that have joined our team including the

farm foreman Benedict and his three support staff, Daniel, Eric, and

Wycliffe. We are in the process of hiring a new house parent’s couple to

help take care of the new children living in Upendo cottage when they

move in.

Today is the day that you can make a big difference for Living Love Ministries! We are so grateful for all of our Supporters who came out to Shady Maple to celebrate the completion of Upendo Cottage. So on this #GivingTuesday please consider sponsoring a child and/or spreading the word to your friends, family and/or co-workers about all of the good things we are doing for the needy children in Kenya.

Help us get the word out on social media using facebook.com/livingloveministries and twitter @LivingLoveMin and the hashtag #GivingTuesday to raise awareness for the Living Love Ministries mission of “Pouring out God’s love on the vulnerable children”

New Children – Jane and Lucy

JANE AND LUCY

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK…

In July, we received two new children from the government children’s department. Jane and Lucy are sisters aged 8 and 5 respectively. They are happy sweet girls that have been through a lot when their mother worked at a pub as a barmaid for the last several years. They were both repeatedly physically and emotionally abused, its amazing they look so happy. Their mom was recently convicted of child neglect after their younger sibling died from “parental neglect”. They are now dealing with the double trauma of loss of their baby sister and now their mother who has been jailed for three years.

The government has placed them under our care until their mother is released from jail. They are quickly adjusting to their new home but are having difficulty keeping the house rules. They have grown up quite independently. An assessment will be done after their mom is released from jail to see if she is fit enough to have them back. There is a chance that Jane and Lucy may end up staying in the LLM home for a long time. Your prayers for these two lovely girls to heal emotionally and to adjust to the new life in the home will be much appreciated.

FOUNDATION MARKINGTRANGULATIONWOWFOOTERS

After months of waiting, the Lord has started this year with a big bang! New fresh ideas, New hope New strength and New enthusiasm for all of us. We sense big changes are about to happen at the home and really want to be ready for them and to be part of them. God is renewing our strength and we are ready to soar to the high places like the eagles for the children’s sake and for His glory. He is making a way in the dessert and streams in the wilderness. It’s the beginning of a new season, a new phase and its spring time for the LLM family.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isa 43: 18 – 19
